Paluma rain forest trails

Updated: Aug 29, 2019

Level: from Beginner to Intermediate.

If you are new to Townsville this is probably a trail for you and your family.

We discovered three trails in the area very near the lookout with the picnic tables and the Paluma village.

Once you get to the top there are several options for entertaining your children and makes it a wonderful place for a fairy bushwalking.

Trail 1: Paluma rain forest walk 680 m

Trail 2: The H track 1.1 km

Trail 3: Cloudy Creek Falls 2.5 km

Trail 2: Witts lookout 2 km.

There is a picnic area with a very short trail. The Picnic area has a gorgeous view to Palm Islands. At the back, there is a carpark were you will find a passage to a magic rain forest. Distance wise, it can be a tough for little ones but again, it depends on your kids. My little hobbits did both of them with stops. The tree cover is large so makes it a good shady walk. You can go during the middle of the day and feel fresh instead of overheating.

Cloudy Creek is not cloudy at all, at least not in January. The water is clear and fresh. You can enjoy the view while sitting on the fall. Your kids can enjoy playing on the creek.

Remember always check for Park alerts on the national park webpage. Before you visit this area.

Things to watch out for: Snakes and leech.

My advice is, go with long trousers and socks! Do not do like me!
